Enterprise Unit Conversions

Unit Conversions provides proper labelling for inventory that you sell in units that are different then how you purchase them. For example, if you purchase a product that comes in a case of 12 but you sell them individually. It can also be used to simply change the unit label that is displayed on the work order. By default, the software uses a unit conversion of unit for unit. All inventory, unless otherwise configured using a unit conversion, is purchased in units and sold in units. So if you sell engine oil on a work order, by default it will read 3.8 units. If you wanted the label to read liters or quarts instead then you would set up a unit conversion for it.

Accessing Unit Conversions

Add / Edit a Unit Conversion

Access the Unit Conversions using the instructions above.
To Add a new unit conversion, click the Add button in the Action group on the Ribbon.
To Edit an existing unit conversion, enter any optional search filters in the Buy Unit, Sell Unit, and Description text boxes and then click the Search button in the Search group on the Ribbon.
If desired, you can use the group by feature to organize the search results.
The Unit Conversion dialog opens:
- Buy Unit - Enter a label in the text box for the lot that you purchase the inventory. An example would be Case of 12.
- Sell Unit - Enter a label in the text box for the units you sell the inventory by. An example would be liters or quarts.
- Description - Enter text in the description text box that describes the purpose of the unit conversion.
- Click OK to save.

Once you establish your unit conversions, you will need to select the Unit Conversion from the drop down list and enter in the quantity in which you purchase the inventory in the Buy Factor field on the inventory material item.

Delete a Unit Conversion

Access the existing unit conversions as instructed above.
Enter any optional search filters in the Buy Unit, Sell Unit, and Description text boxes and then click the Search button in the Search group on the Ribbon.
Select the unit conversion you wish to delete from the resulting list by clicking on it.
Click the Delete command button in the Action group on the Ribbon.
