A ribbon is a user interface element that provides access to Shop Manager commands or functions.
There are four main components to the ribbon:
Tabs - A tab contains buttons that correspond to the commands or functions of Shop Manager the feature that you are using at the moment. In the figure above, two tabs are visible: a Home tab and a Contacts tab. Activate a tab simply by clicking on it. The Contacts tab is currently active in the figure above.
Groups - Each tab may have one or more groups, which contain related functionality. The figure above depicts two ribbon groups: Contact and Service Item.
Buttons
- the user clicks buttons to perform the actual tasks. The
figure above highlights the Add Contact
Button, which the user can click to begin creating a new contact.
Though it is shown as disabled in the figure, the Edit
button is for editing an existing contact, and the Delete
button is for deleting a contact.
The Service Item group contains three buttons: Add
Service Item, Edit,
and Delete. These are very
similar to the buttons in the Contact group, though they operate on
a Service Item that belongs to the contact, such as a motor vehicle.
Some buttons display a list of sub-commands when you click on them.
For example, the Add Service Item
button in the figure above contains a small down-arrow.
