Most of the methods in this help guide are consistent with using the ribbon and task menus, since those are an integral part of Shop Manager and its user interface. It's important to realize that standard mouse actions work within most situations.
Typically, the right-click mouse action will display a small, context-sensitive menu that lists actions or tasks that are relevant for the item over which the right-click was done. For example, the figure displays a small two-item menu at the point where the user has right-clicked over the first item in the listing (in blue highlighting). A context menu appears, from which the user can make a selection. In this case, there are two options: Edit the item or Delete it.
Double-clicking on an item will execute the default action on the item. The default action is typically the first item that appears in the context menu (right-click). In the figure above, a double-click on any item in the list would display a pop-up for editing that item.
The drag and drop function allows you to click and hold on an item and drag it to the position you want it and then letting go of the mouse button. A typical use of this with the software is to rearrange lists.
In some lists, it's possible to select multiple items. The figure below shows a Reminder Group pop-up, in which both the Coolant Flush and Tire Rotation are selected (blue highlighting).
A user can select multiple items by either of these methods:
CTRL + Left Mouse Click: Hold down the CTRL key and successively click items in a list, in any order.
SHIFT + Left Mouse Click: Hold down the SHIFT key, click an item in the list, and then click any other item to select all items in the list between those items (inclusive of the items clicked).
